TIRANA, Sept 19 /ATA/ – Around 16,000 university quotas have been filled across Albania in the first round of higher education admissions, a senior official said on Friday.

Arjan Xhelaj, Director General of the Albanian Academic Network (RASH), told the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) that the most in-demand programs included medicine, information technology, and engineering – fields that together accounted for more than 50% of current higher education enrollments.

“The first round progressed well. Out of over 20,000 applicants, approximately 80% have registered. Some university programs filled immediately, especially those requiring entrance exams, such as General Medicine, Architecture and Urban Planning, as well as the academies of Security and the Armed Forces,” Xhelaj said.

Teacher training programs also maintained a steady level of interest, representing about 7.5% of total registrations – similar to last year.

Xhelaj advised applicants entering the second round to make more realistic choices aligned with their academic results.

Around 7,000 students, including those from the autumn examination session, will be eligible to apply via the government-run UAlbania portal from September 20 to 22.

The second round of registrations will begin on September 29 and run through October 8, divided into five 48-hour phases.

TIRANA, Jan.20 /ATA/- According to General Directorate of Road Transport Services (GDRTS), in 2020 43,661 vehicles have been registered for the first time in the regional directorates.

29% of the first-time registered vehicles were produced in 2010 and above, 63% of them were produced in 2005-2009 and 8% of vehicles registered for the first time were produced before 2005.

“Such figures show the positive trend in the registration of new vehicles and the decrease in the number of registered vehicles produced before 2005, as a result of Council of Ministers Decision no. 633, dated 26.10.2018 on the restriction of the import of vehicles under the environmental category EURO4, as part of the policies against air pollution and environmental protection,” GDRTS said.

Compared to 2018, have been registered 80% fewer vehicles for the first time produced before 2005 or 45% less compared to 2019. //a.i/
