TIRANA, Feb 9 /ATA/ The Council of Ministers approved on Wednesday the decision to increase by 50% the refunding of transport costs for students who live more than 2 kilometers from school.

The news was announced by Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi, who said that “this decision of the Council of Ministers will minimize the problems related to the transportation of students and employees of the pre-university education system.”

“Due to the low value of the ticket, the transport service operators encountered difficulties in providing transport. The first good news is the 50% bonus that comes on top of the indexed ticket price for students. “This change will improve the transport service, especially in areas that are not covered by transport lines,” Kushi said.

According to Minister Kushi, this change will further reduce the number of students who study in collective classes, as sending them to the center schools, which are staffed with profile teachers, has been difficult due to problems of transport.

Minister Kushi said that “another good news is that now the beneficiaries of the transport service will be not only teachers, but also psycho-social service employees and security officers who work 5 to 50 kilometers away from their place of residence.”
