During the EU-Albania Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee meeting in Strasbourg, Tabaku stated that “a comprehensive electoral reform is currently under discussion within the Parliamentary Committee.”

She emphasized that “last year’s actions were simply the enforcement of a Constitutional Court ruling, which had been delayed by a year, so Parliament merely implemented the Court’s decision.”

All priority recommendations from the 2013 elections until today, according to Tabaku, have not been incorporated, and this is a process that should not start next September but should have begun 10 years ago.
“Nonetheless, it is important to agree that all changes to the Electoral Code and electoral reforms should be made with the consensus of all political parties, unlike the method employed by this government in 2021,” she emphasized.
