In a social media post, Hoxha highlighted key milestones in Albania’s EU accession journey, noting the pace of progress achieved in less than two years.

“On October 14, 2024, Albania had not opened a single negotiating chapter. By November 17, 2025, it had opened all 33 chapters. On May 26, 2026, Albania became the first negotiating country to achieve IBAR under the new enlargement methodology,” Hoxha said.

He noted that on July 14, 2026, Albania enters the final phase of accession negotiations with the provisional closure of Chapter 25 (Science and Research), Chapter 26 (Education and Culture) and Chapter 30 (External Relations).

“What appear to be dates on a timeline are, in fact, historic milestones reflecting an extraordinary transformation, driven by sustained hard work, genuine institutional commitment, strong determination and unwavering political will,” Hoxha said.
