The Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu posted Friday the story featuring a woman, who has shown courage and strength to report violence and integrate into the society through the support of relevant official bodies.

“I am a mother of three. I was put through domestic violence after marriage. I could no longer stand it and I decided to leave house together with my children,” Ada Pupa said.

A mindset of treating woman as a property is still existent, with the man being seen as the family head who should be providing for the family, whereas the woman should deal with the chores only and cannot make decisions for her kids and the family.

“Violence is an unpredictable phenomenon. That’s why we are available 24/7. The main institution for everyone to report is the State Police. The main duty of a police officer in the area is to supervise persons prone to violence,” says the police officer at the Reports Office.

In the meantime, an appeal is sent to every victim of the domestic violence to seek medical help.

“I appeal to every person, victims of violence, girls, boys, kids and women, to seek medical help. A qualified staff is available to provide care to everyone,” the doctor says.

“Together we can succeed in the efforts to build a violence-free society, free from a culture of silence and stereotypes, just like this woman has found strength and courage to report violence, win freedom and integrate into the society thanks to the support of our structures,” the Minister of Health and Social Protection said.
