TIRANA, May 7/ATA/ Chairman of the ruling Socialist Party Edi Rama said today at the meeting of the Parliamentary group of the Socialist Party that before the SP launched the justice reform, the prosecution did not even dare to think about opening investigations into ministers or former ministers.

Albania had not been able to achieve for 100 years or more the justice independence while now the SP has managed to bring the country to the doors of the European Union.

“Among the 40 or so ministers who have worked in the governments headed by me, only a handful of socialist ministers in these ten years who are related to the investigations carried out by SPAK, with accusations or punishments, have not left office because of SPAK, but have been dismissed first of all by me so that to correct the work targets.”I have never been a shield for anyone I used to work with yesterday and today,” said Rama.

“The opposite is true. There is a red line between my function and the function of justice. As written in the constitution and the law of the government, “Whoever puts his foot in knows what he’s doing,” continues Rama.

“If you haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t need me and the SP to keep you, the truth backs you, so fight for your truth, because this party and this government cannot make any longer comments on the cases opened by SPAK. As a matter of fact, the higher the SPAK standard is raised, the more we expect the truth only from SPAK”, stated the prime minister./a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, May 19/ATA/ At the venues of the Museum of Archeology there was organized the scientific conference “Museums, sustainability and well-being”, an initiative of the International Council of Museums – ICOM Albania and the Institute of Archeology (ASA).

The organizers managed to bring together scientific researchers, museum professionals and specialists and individuals active in the preservation of museum cultural heritage. The topics discussed at the conference are related to the legal framework for museums in Albania, the role of museums in modern society, the cultivation of heritage at the heart of the community, risks, trafficking, preventive and awareness measures on the protection of cultural heritage, up to ” the woman’s museum” as an alternative in contemporary society.

Archaeologists, anthropologists and collectors lectured in front of an audience of mainly students of the Faculty of History and Philology: Edlira Andoni, Sabina Veseli, Belisa Muka, Melsi Labi, Ermela Broci, Dorian Koçi, Aurora Kamberi, Dorina Xheraj-Subashi and Elsa Ballauri.

A special place was dedicated to the promotion in the Albanian language of the document “Red List of Cultural Objects of Southeast Europe at risk”. This document was originally presented by ICOM in English and all ICOM national committees in the Balkans, as well as Albania, are translating this document into their languages.

Albania is the third country in the Balkans that is promoting the document in its native language, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Cultural Heritage. These practical manuals present the categories of cultural objects that can potentially be subject to theft and trafficking. They are designed by ICOM museums and cultural heritage experts to help cultural heritage institutions, organizations, law enforcement, especially police and customs officials, identify objects that are at risk of theft and prevent their illegal sale and trafficking. /p.s./

TIRANA, February 4 /ATA/ The increase of the number of people infected with Covid-19 in our country happens because the preventive measures are not respected, starting from the gatherings of people and continuing with the mask, distance, hygiene, etc.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported on Wednesday that there were over 1,000 cases of COVID-19 infection. The figure is reached for the first time in our country since the beginning of the pandemic.

Rovena Daja, a specialist at the Institute of Public Health, in an interview on Thursday, stressed that the reason for the increase in cases is the gathering in bars and non-compliance with safety measures.

“The number of cases is increasing because people have increased contact with each other, do not use masks, restaurants and bars are full,” she said.

“The capital is a red zone”, said Daja.

“There is also an increase in the spread of the virus among young people aged 20 to 24 years. There are about 31,000 active positive cases in Albania and Tirana has more than half of those infected”, said Daja. /a.a/r.e/p.s./
