TIRANA, July 14/ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku announced today the launch of the second phase of the new project for the recruitment of young engineers at the Albpetrol Co.

This project aims to integrate young people, students in the fields of oil, gas and geology, into the company’s operational staff.

“The year 2024 marked the beginning of this project, where a group of 20 people, who joined Albpetrol just a year ago, are now working full-time with our staff,” said Balluku.

In the current phase, 45 new candidates were tested, out of a total of 95 applications, who expressed their desire to become part of the Albpetrol in 2025 and 2026, through a trial year period, a paid and very successful internship.

The minister emphasized that, “From this group, 20 of them will begin paid internships at the Albpetrol and will then be assessed for full-time employment. The others, around 35 engineers, will be engaged in other public institutions within the Infrastructure and Energy sector, as specialists in the Oil and Gas Directorate or technical institutes.”

Balluku added that over the years, the sector has faced a shortage of young engineers due to emigration to other countries, especially Canada, but she emphasized, “Now, we notice a great desire among young people to work at Albpetrol and in the public sector.”

Balluku spoke of the increase in the number of women choosing this technical field, which has traditionally been dominated by men.

“It is very encouraging that there were many girls in the testing group, who are contributing to a specific and important sector like oil and gas,” she said.

Balluku stated that work is underway to reform the legal and operational framework in oil and gas, in the benefit of the Albanian citizens. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, Feb 12 /ATA/ – Xhoni Ujka joined the Albanian Armed Forces after being graduated from the Academy of Arts.

The Minister of Defence Niko Peleshi posted Sunday Ujka’s story, who for over two years now serves as radio operator-maintainer for the Support Battalion of the Land Forces.

“Ujka’s story is an example of the great opportunities that the Armed Forces provide to every young man or woman, who wishes to lead an excellent career in the army,” Peleshi said.

Ujka acknowledges that he himself saw his army career as an excellent opportunity to serve his country.

“I graduated from the Academy of Arts and I joined the army. As a radio operator-maintainer I am primarily responsible for maintaining, transmitting, and monitoring communications by providing our battalion and various military operations with reliable information. It may sound strange to some that a young man who has a degree in painting should pursue a military career, but I see it as a challenge to myself and a good opportunity to serve my country,” he said.

TIRANA, May 27/ATA/ Director of the Department of Public Administration Albana Koçiu stated today that Albania is ranked a leader in the Western Balkans about good management of human resources and civil service.

Koçiu attended today session in the Committee on Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights, where she reported on the activity of the Department of Public Administration during 2021.

She highlighted the latest public administration monitoring report for the period 2017-2021, by SIGMA (Support for Improvement in Governance and Management), a joint initiative of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union.

“This has been one of the assessments that has ranked Albania as a leader in the Western Balkans about good management of human resources and civil service. SIGMA evaluates the meritocracy and the efficiency of the recruitment of civil servants, a point that is maximally evaluated in the report”, she said.

During the session, Koçiu listed some of the achievements of Department during 2021, and focused on the following priorities and objectives.

Regarding the re-energizing of public administration, Koçiu focused on the initiative of employment of excellent students, which continued in 2021 and paved the way for application of students with a GPA of 9-10, with a one-year employment contract.

“This aims to give a first opportunity to understand the work of the administration. This is also appreciated by the EC. Since the beginning of this initiative, 694 excellent students have been employed, while 2646 students applied and 2089 of them qualified. A total of 1130 job positions were offered and at the end of the one-year contract there are 434 excellent people who have gained the status of civil servant today. This practice continues, while the places of excellence are not more than 1/3 of the institution to exchange internships between the experienced and new employees “, she said./p.s./
