TIRANA, Dec 19 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama on Thursday highlighted the support provided to the Diaspora in terms of pensions and the recognition of work years in the countries where they reside.
At the annual meeting of the Diaspora Coordinating Council, Rama touched on the issue of pensions, highlighting that when he took office, Albania had signed pension agreements with only one country.
Rama highlighted that when his government took office, Albania had only one pension agreement, with a country that likely had very few workers. He emphasized the significant support provided to the Diaspora in terms of pension recognition and work years in the countries they reside.

The Prime Minister announced that today there are a large number of pension agreements in place, with eight more agreements currently under negotiation.
The Prime Minister announced that the agreement with Italy, which was the most challenging due to the large number of workers and the financial burden on the Italian state, has been finalized. However, this is a legitimate financial burden, as it involves all the social security contributions paid by Albanians in Italy
He also highlighted the difficult agreement with Greece and noted that negotiations are ongoing with other countries where Albanian workers are employed.
