TIRANA, Jan 23 /ATA/ – Nationwide efforts continue to reclaim public spaces from illegal construction, a campaign that precedes the implementation of the government’s “Urban Renaissance 2.0” programme across Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday.

The initiative aims to restore legality across the territory while supporting community development.

Rama shared images on social media showing the demolition of an unauthorized structure by inspectors from the National Territorial Protection Inspectorate.

“We are continuing work everywhere to free up public spaces,” Rama wrote.

Launched in July last year, the campaign has been designed as a permanent intervention and remains a priority for both local and central government, according to officials.

Authorities said many violations are reported directly by citizens through a dedicated online platform, “My Public Space”. To date, 18,065 cases have been reported, of which 13,947 have been resolved, while 4,118 remain under review.

The government has tightened measures to strengthen territorial oversight, protect public spaces, enforce construction permits and legally punish developers who violate regulations.
