After 13 intense hours, the team, led by Dr Dritan Alushani, succeeded in bladder enlargement and permanent urinary diversion for a paediatric patient.

“After successive surgical interventions shortly after his birth to divert the urinary tract without putting little Daniel on dialysis, thanks to the hard work by doctors and medical staff at the Nephrology and Paediatric Surgery ward for many years, the bladder enlargement and permanent urinary diversion were already performed so that Daniel can lead a healthy life, until a possible kidney transplant is performed in the future,” Health Minister said.

Professor Associated Dritan Alushani said: “It was a very rare and extremely difficult procedure, which ended successfully. After so many years, Daniel will now live with a normal urinary tract. This is not the only case we have treated in our ward.”
