TIRANA, April 15 /ATA/ -By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Monday that “Albania is joining the mechanisms and financial resources of the European Union, which were not available for a non-member country.”
In a televised interview, the Prime Minister focused on the progress of the European integration process, emphasizing that “we have broken through the wall of this process, as we have begun to access the mechanisms and financial resources of the EU that were not available to a non-member country.”

“Yesterday, the European Parliament approved the new economic growth plan, which means extra support for the countries of the Western Balkans, from European funding. Budget support, support through soft loans for major infrastructure projects, for major energy projects and so on. And a number of other aspects, such as the accession to the European mechanism of financial transactions, which will save staggering amounts to Albanians who are abroad and who send money home, but who practically take money outside the EU. So, the transfer commissions for them will be the same as within the EU and will see an exponential reduction in financial terms”, the Prime Minister emphasized.

Rama underlined that we have achieved these things through politics, good relations and direct communication.

We have proved that we are not only exceptional hosts whenever we organize summits, but we have a very nice country where you can have a great time and eat very well, where people have a good sense of humor and are up to speed, and above all are eager to bring about the change. The transformation of Albania has drawn a great deal of respect and admiration,” he emphasized.

Asked if there is a date for integration process, Rama said that “dates are impossible due to the way the EU works.”
