TIRANA, April 13 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ “The people are on my mind every second, every minute, every day and they are the ones who motivate me and the first thing that springs to my mind is the question how many families will move into their new homes today and how many senior citizens will get vaccinated today.”

This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday during a meeting with the youths of Librazhd, where he delivered a different, more personal speech, regarding his priorities as Prime Minister during this term of office when the country was affected by a devastating earthquake and a pandemic crisis.

When I saw a meeting with young people in Librazhd on my agenda, the first thing that came to my mind was to deliver a candid speech, not a campaign-like one. For days, weeks maybe, many friends of mine write to me ‘do not be so gloomy, put a smile on your face, things are fine, we will win. Of course we will win on April 25, without a doubt we will win, but believe me it is not easy to laugh, to feel relieved and to look fresh, as if you slept for 10 hours, ” said Rama.

For more than a year now I have been confronted with a challenging time from the moment I learned about the earthquake onwards.

“My life at the top was impacted much more because from that moment onwards I can never separate myself, believe it or not, from those who are waiting to move into their homes; from students waiting to return to their school. But also from all of them, especially the elderly, your grandmothers and grandfathers, who are looking forward to leaving behind the nightmare and uncertainty of invisible enemy and move on, ” said Rama.
