TIRANA, Jan 7 /ATA/ Tamara in the Kelmendi Mountains, one of the most magnificent areas of the Albanian Alps, has turned into a tourist destination in recent years.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has posted pictures of Tamara, inviting local and foreign tourists to visit it.

“I wish you all a peaceful Sunday with the beautiful Tamara,” Rama writes.
Before the Urban Renaissance Program was extended there, what Tamara offered was a natural miracle, but also evidence of over two decades of oblivion and lack of vision to develop it as such.

Tamara already has a new promenade of 5 thousand square meters, the roofs of the typical houses of the area have been reconstructed, the facades of the buildings in the village center have been re-clad, trees have been planted along the promenade and lighting systems have been installed.

According to legend, Tamara has been named after the wife of the Pasha of Shkodra, Karamahmut Pash Bushatliu. In her honor, the pasha first built the Tamara bridge, which later gave the area its name.
