In attendance are the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and 50 heads of state.

Rama said that “the temporary agenda is: maintaining international peace and security, upholding the purposes and principles of the United Nations, its Charter through effective multilateral action, maintaining the peace and security of Ukraine”.
Furthermore, Rama thanked the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, for the speech delivered at the High Level Open Debate in the Security Council.

“Thank you for being here! The presence of a significant number of personalities shows the importance of this issue. President Zelensky, I am grateful for your presence here at such a tragic moment in your country’s history. Your strong words translate the pain of your compatriots and convey very clearly, along with your unwavering determination, the courage of your people and the inalienable hope of your nation”, emphasized Rama.

Meanwhile, Rama continued, “the world today needs a strong sense of responsibility from all of us to cope with the overlapping challenges and threats facing our planet, conflicts, unconstitutional directions of power, climate change, devastating floods and droughts that do not spare anyone, including massive unpredicted wildfires. What we witness are more and more divisive attitudes, destructive acts and conflicts between and within states”.

“Who could imagine not long ago, that in the third decade of the XXI century, a devastating war, started by a permanent member of this Council, would put Europe in peril. Who could have imagined just a few years ago that an unjustified, unjust, unprovoked military aggression by a major country against a nascent democracy would not be immediately universally condemned by all the nations that gather here and share the same objectives and principles”, emphasized Rama.
