TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Friday that the designation of Berisha by the Department of State should be read through.

During a meeting in Tropoja to present the works done by the municipality, Rama said that “today we have to take stock of what compels our biggest strategic ally, the United States, to designate a person who was president of this country and with whom the United States has had cooperation; who was the prime minister of this country and with whom the United States had cooperation?”.

“Corrupt acts ok, is it enough to designate a personality of an allied country? Undermining democracy, how? Intimidation of justice, agree! Well, my friends, I am telling you that in the light of what is happening today, the position of the United States should be read through, and in the light of what is happening today, you should also look back on the 2021 campaign, when I told Luli, Lul, break with those two”, said Rama.

According to him, this is not an internal political issue.

“Therefore, I say to all those who see this issue as an internal political issue, to all those who see this issue as a SP-DP issue, this is not a SP-DP issue. To all those who see this issue as ruling majority-opposition, this is not a ruling majority-opposition issue! There is more to it than that. This is a genuine Albanian issue and this is a matter of which side Albania is on, with whom? With whom does Albania align in this situation? Does it align with the alliance in which we are in words and deeds, or does it align as a country, where in words we are in that alliance, that no one dares to say that we are not, but through actions we are reduced to a crippled member of this alliance. It’s very straightforward. As impossible as it seems, it is true,” said Rama.
