TIRANA Nov 3 /ATA/ The Socialist Party head and Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Sunday during a meeting with the Albanian community in Thessaloniki that the term “Northern Epirus” is long outdated and has no relevance anymore.

“As part of these unwelcome displays, a group of living ghosts from the past has staged a protest against my visit to meet you. With flyers and ridiculous slogans inspired by the so-called ‘Northern Epirus,’ they have addressed threats against me in recent days, which I find regrettable, just as I feel the same regret for anyone in Albania who harbours unfriendly sentiments toward our neighbouring and friendly Greece.”

“Northern Epirus is a term that has long since become obsolete. It has faded away along with the outdated dreams of those circles and individuals who are out of touch with the present in this region. Anyone who continues to use the term Northern Epirus when talking about southern Albania only reveals their short-sightedness and inability to fit into the realities of the 21st century,” said Rama.

Rama emphasized, “These are regrettable fossils, but they are by no means a reason to harbour unfriendly feelings towards Greece.” /j.p/sm/
