TIRANA, May  5 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister, also the Socialist Party chairman, Edi Rama said on Friday that Tepelena has turned into a tourist destination thanks to the investments made.

While presenting the candidates for mayors in Tepelena and Memaliaj, Rama focused on the development of tourism in this region.

“I met some German tourists who told me that they would stay in Tepelena for 4 days. “

Rama emphasized that Tepelena is already an up and coming tourist destination and only last year it was visited by 15 thousand tourists.

The stretch from the castle, which is the pride of Tepelena, up to Kurvelesh and Nivica, has attracted more than 15 thousand tourists last year. Over 50,000 visitors have come to explore the area. My ambition is to further propel Tepelena into development and increase the number of tourists to 150 thousand,” Rama said.

“90% of all roads in Tepelena have been already refurbished. We found the roads in dilapidated condition. Tepelena, Memaliaj and Këlcyra have grappled with water shortage. Today, the entire area has access to nonstop drinking water supply,”  Rama said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the work on the Tepelena fortress is ongoing to become another economic engine for Tepelena as it will buzz with services, hotels and tourists.

The Prime Minister emphasized that designating Vjosa as the only wild river in Europe is not a matter of status, but also a matter of the economic future, because the number of tourists will multiply year after year.

After presenting the Action Plan 2021-2025 in Tepelena, Prime Minister Rama stressed that, “we have an action plan, while they have an electoral program in their style,” what are you, are you at work? Yes. We will cut social security contributions. What about you, a pensioner? We will increase pensions. That is, they will reduce milk production, increase cheese production.

“Do not forget one thing, April 25 will decide what Albania we will have in the future, not in 4 years, but what Albania we will have by 2030. We will have Albania of the future for our children, for all young men and women, the home that makes them proud not only for history, cultural monuments, etc., but for conditions, or we will face another decline in economy as has happened many times when Albanians have followed their miraculous recipes.”
