TIRANA, April 25 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the Socialist Party chairman, said on Friday that Shkodra stands as a clear example of how the power of the vote can reverse the course of history—transforming a legacy of degradation and isolation into one of renewal.

In a meeting with first-time voters from the Shkodra region, Prime Minister Rama highlighted the transformation the city has undergone over the past two years under Socialist Party leadership at the municipal level.

Prime Minister Edi Rama reflected on his long-standing desire to earn the trust of Shkodra’s citizens, saying that for years he wondered why they had never given him the chance to demonstrate what his party could achieve for the city. “That changed two years ago,” Rama said. “Since then, we’ve accomplished more in Shkodër than was done in all the previous years combined.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that, based on all available data on small business performance, last year was Shkodra’s best yet—marking a turning point as the city begins to emerge as a tourist destination.

“It’s not just a few tourists crossing over for half a day from Montenegro,” Rama said. “There are now many visitors coming specifically for Shkodra—and that’s thanks to the transformation that has taken place here.”

Rama asserted that Shkodra is the one place where you can firmly say that those who think a vote doesn’t count are mistaken.

Rama stated, “You can see how a single vote can reverse Shkodra’s modern history, transforming it from a story of degradation and isolation, plagued by dust and filth, into a story of revitalization.”

However, the Prime Minister emphasized that there is still much work to be done, as in other cities, the Socialist Party has had more time and opportunity to work and make progress.

“We’ve only had two years in Shkodra with a mayor who plans and follows through on projects,” said Rama.
