TIRANA, Dec 10 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama assured on Friday that work continues apace to guarantee that the construction of houses and all other units will be completed as soon as possible in Kombinat.

Prime Minister Rama attended the opening ceremony of the “Lasgush Poradeci” school and kindergarten in Kombinat transformed beyond recognition after the damaged caused by the devastating earthquake.

After thanking international partners engaged in the Reconstruction program, Rama stressed that they rushed to our aid at a difficult moment, when the earthquake turned upside down the life of thousands of families that remained homeless and thousands of students who had no choice but move to other educational facilities.

“The vast majority of those hit the hardest by the earthquake did not even believe that things would change that soon and that families would move into more beautiful and resilient homes, while students would return to schools that can’t compare to the previous ones,” said Rama.

Speaking about the reconstruction in Kombinat, Rama said that “Kombinat is one of the areas hit the hardest by the devastating earthquake and the number of affected families is higher than in other areas of Tirana.”

“This is the area where one of the biggest Reconstruction projects is under construction. Families need to be a little more patient because it is one of the biggest projects, if not the biggest and as such it takes a little more time to be built than individual houses or smaller neighborhoods,” said Rama.
The Prime Minister assured that “the new neighborhood will be the same as this school in terms of the transformative impact on the lives of those families who were affected but on entire life of the community.”

“The new neighborhood that will be built here will be the same as this school in terms of the transformative impact on the lives of those families that were affected, but also on entire life of the community. I guarantee everyone that work continues uninterruptedly together with the Municipality of Tirana to make sure that the houses and all other units, from trade units to social and administrative ones in the area of Kombinat, will be delivered as soon as possible “, underlined Rama.

The Prime Minister stressed that “Reconstruction is largely funded by the Albanian government, but this process would be impossible unless we were supported by so many friends and partners who have undertaken to finance specific projects.”

“My answer to those who talk about billions embezzled by the Albanian government is that no penny of the government investments comes from the partners and no penny of the partners has been administered by the Albanian government. The partners have selected the winners, awarded the contracts while the government and the municipalities have simply assisted this process, guaranteeing that the projects are the right ones, said Rama.

He added that “all the rest is a job well done, joining forces and setting very well the boundaries where everyone has undertaken to do some of the work, and has done it in the best way possible.”

“The new neighborhood of Kombinat is a 100% investment of the Albanian government. It is all money collected and well administered by Albanian taxpayers. The new neighborhood of Kombinat will be up to standards and a brilliant success just like this school,” Rama said.

The new school “Lasgush Poradeci” with a capacity of 1200 students is way more beautiful and bigger. It contains auditoriums, modern laboratories, as well as sports grounds, which will serve not only students but the entire community in the area.
