In a televised interview, Rama spoke about the war in Ukraine and the spillover effect of sanctions on prices.

“When I made a public appearance a few months ago and warned of an energy crisis ahead, I did not foresee the war in any way, but it was very clear that a cold wind had begun to blow in Europe as a result of a move by Vladimir Putin in relation to gas and its supply. Amid the post-pandemic impact, Europe was faced with a much higher demand than supply in international markets,” Rama said.

Rama said that this government is doing something which we should sustain, keeping the price of energy unchanged, which other countries, neighboring countries, have not done. “In Greece, the price of energy has increased significantly. On the other hand, diesel today is at its peak of 2014 in international markets. Of course, the general rise in prices, which was a post-pandemic trend due to rising inflation, due to the circulation of significant money flows has affected Albania as well. We are here to protect Albanian citizens. The shield against increase in price of energy has worked so far,” said Rama.

Prime Minister said that “we should be aware that we are at war, fortunately we are not on the front line, we are not affected militarily, but the war definitely affects us in terms of prices.”

“What we have never imagined has become a reality. The war is back in its wildest form and in a form that this generation that leads Europe today has not known. It’s not a documentary or feature film, but it should really make us all reflect. Those people standing there to fight teach us to appreciate more the freedom we have, to appreciate more what we have as a whole, ” said Rama.
