At a joint press conference in Podgorica alongside the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazović, Rama appreciated the fact that the latter sees politics through the citizen’s lens and not as a representative of an ethnic group.

“It was, as always, a special pleasure, not because diplomacy requires it to be said, but because every time I meet with Prime Minister Abazović, my ever closest friend Dritan, it is a very special pleasure. Dritan is among those few people who, in this neighborhood of ours in the heart of Europe called the Balkans, sees politics through the lens of a citizen and not of a representative of an ethnic group. And this is something so rare, so precious,” said Rama.

Rama informed that the meeting focused on the topics that are the reason for this two-day visit to all the capitals of the region, on the one hand the Berlin Process and on the other the upcoming NATO summit.

“Albania and Montenegro are together members of NATO. It was a marked day for us Albanians in Albania and the Albanian state when Montenegro became a member of NATO, for which we have been vocal advocates since the beginning when some said that Montenegro could not and will never join NATO, because it was under the influence of other actors,” said Rama.
According to him, “history showed that Montenegro joined NATO and is a valued member of NATO.”

“For us, it is very important that at this NATO summit we have a common position regarding the region and regarding concerns in the region, being self-aware that thanks to the Berlin Process and thanks to all the other initiatives we have undertaken we are at another phase of our history and the new generations will never forgive us for allowing the region to slip back to where it languished for centuries until very few years ago, to the conflicts which then caused great bloodshed and opened deep lines of hatred between countries,” said Rama.
