Prime Minister Edi Rama made this statement on Wednesday at the event “Empowering AI in Digital Public Services in Albania,” with a special focus on the modernization of public administration.
Rama mentioned, “The platform has 3.3 million users, which includes all Albanians, both inside and outside the country, as well as businesses. Since 2020, a total of 49 million services have been provided.”
“Imagine 49 million instances of waiting in line, 49 million face-to-face or ear-to-ear encounters, breath by breath with the state at counters. 49 million situations where there was a real chance of leaving feeling stressed or like someone was reaching into your pockets to ask for money. All of this has been eliminated, along with the plague of endemic corruption that once afflicted Albania at every counter and step,” Rama said.

The head of the government announced, “We have conducted an international audit of the platform to gauge the impact of this transformation. 620 million euros have been saved for citizens and businesses solely due to this transformation, as well as from the elimination of queues and time efficiency. One billion kilometers traveled, the equivalent of 25,000 trips around the world, were saved by people who previously had to travel to obtain documents. Those living abroad have saved 57 million euros by being able to access services through the platform, receiving them just as if they were here, without having to wait for the day they come to Albania,” said Rama.
