TIRANA, May 27 /ATA/- Thousands of Italian Albanians gathered in Milan, were the next hosts of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has already started a tour to the European countries, where Albanians have been living and working for decades.

Rama has published on social media highlights from the meeting the day before with our compatriots in Italy.

“The video card from the red and black wave of Albanians living in Italy, a mirror image of the new era that has ushered in for Albania and for Albanians as a whole,” Rama says in the caption below.
In his address to them, Rama emphasized that “you Albanians living in Italy are the shining example of Albanians at the avanguard of reunification with Europe, you are Albanian pride, embodied in an inspiring success of our national mission to join the democratic Europe.”

Also, the Prime Minister brought to attention the difficult times of Albania and the Albanians, the time of communism and the ships crammed with Albanians sailing to the shores of Italy to flee the dictatorship regime.

Rama went on saying that “for many years, it was you the Albanians of Italy and all of Europe who kept Albania afloat with remittances for your families. Today it is Albania’s turn to make you proud when you talk about your homeland or when Italians and other Europeans talk about Albania and about its European dignity, ultimately acquired.”

The Prime Minister also focused on the pension agreement with the Italian state, adding that they have placed a precious and missing gem in the crown of justice that they have deserved.

“Thanks to the personal commitment of your prime minister in Italy, Giorgia Meloni, an indefatigable friend of Albania and a very strong spokesperson for us in the EU, we managed to finally place, after a long but tireless effort, a precious and missing gem in the crown of justice that you have fully deserved with your contributions to this second homeland of yours, where you dispelled that terrible fallacy “e stato un albanese” hanging over you in the uphill battle to triumph as the new Europeans of Italy,” Rama said.
