TIRANA, Aug 27 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama also addressed the judges’ rulings in favour of individuals accused of arson
during the National Gratitude Ceremony, where medals and awards were presented to all forces involved in firefighting and rescue operations. Prime Minister Rama remarked that, regrettably, “the hands of criminal minds too often find accomplices among the judges of this country.

“The story of the fires is far from over and continues to be written, with around 10,000 personnel on standby against the monster of flames that expands each year across the Mediterranean, fuelled by record-breaking heatwaves. At the same time, it originates from the hands of criminal minds that, regrettably, too often find allies among this country’s judges,” Prime Minister Rama underlined.

The Prime Minister stressed that he has asked the Minister of Justice to forward these cases to the judicial governance bodies, noting that while they are not numerous, they are serious enough to raise deep concern.

“As thousands of men and women in uniform devote themselves tirelessly—often to the point of self-sacrifice—in the gruelling battle against fires, and as thousands of hectares of forest wealth, built over centuries, are devoured by the monstrous flames, a few individuals, unknown by face or name, with no human sensitivity and devoid of moral or professional integrity, mock these sacrifices. Shielded by the black robe of a judge in air-conditioned offices, they trample on the interests of the nation and the public, handing down disgraceful rulings not in the interest of the Republic but in favour of the arsonists,” Rama declared.

The Prime Minister assured that “we will neither fall silent nor leave any stone of this Republic’s legal framework unturned, in order to hold publicly and institutionally accountable every prosecutor or judge who openly attacks the state and the public interest in trials involving arsonists, usurpers, or those who plunder the nation’s public goods and wealth.”

Rama also emphasized that “we will provide full institutional support to prosecutors and judges who uphold Albania’s historic national mission for 2030 in the EU, fighting corruption and organized crime while steadfastly defending the public interest and the rights and freedoms of our citizens.”
