TIRANA, March 3 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday that “democratic Albania is the only country where combat fire has been opened on the crowd,” adding that this event has not been investigated, judged and as such as it has gone unpunished for 12 years.

“Would it make sense any more for their perpetrators to be still at large and added to that to perform important roles in the country’s life when recently, another authentic, brutally shocking material came out, about the premeditated and cold-blooded murder of four innocent citizens, unarmed, harmless to anyone,” Rama said in a posting on social media.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the democratic system does not recognize opening fire with combat bullets on a crowd as a state right, it is considered a serious crime in the history of Europe for the last 100 years at least, including the Europe of the Cold War, democratic Albania is the only country where fire with combat ammunition has been opened on the crowd.

“Deadly combat fire uninvestigated, untried and certainly unpunished for 12 years,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister went on saying that a farcical trial for this state crime, unseen and unheard of in the history of Europe, totally ignored the screaming truth of a premeditated murder, even warned and rejected with the most humiliating arrogance by the perpetrators.

“The old justice, rotten and subdued, re-murdered the four victims, trampled ruthlessly on the wounds of their families, cruelly raped the orphans of the four fathers, denying them equality before the law and giving Albanians the most bitter and demoralizing message possible for unequal access to justice in their homeland,” he said.

“”The new justice system, with its key institution, created entirely with a strong popular and political will, national and international, for the investigation of organized crime and the corruption of high officials, which should have started its life with this bloodstained stone of the collapsed foundations of equality before the law of this country, not only did not return to the scene of this crime with terribly distorting, deep and lasting consequences for the political and democratic culture of Albania, but pretended to have nothing to do with it, despite the fact that one of the strongest motives for the massive popular support behind the justice reform (from which SPAK itself was born as the embodiment of a great hope) was precisely the national need for justice to be delivered for January 21,” he added.

According to the prime minister, “this is today one of the main reasons for the popular disappointment with the justice reform – whoever denies or questions both the first and the second, does not understand or does not want to understand the essence and historical consequences on the rule of law, of action or inaction for the wound left by the January 21 tragedy.”

“The good news, however, is that it is never too late for justice. And despite the fact that the hideous Jan 21 crime did not need further evidence, with the new evidence of the last few weeks, and especially with the shocking audio published in the last few days, failure of the new justice to return to the crime scene of 12 years ago, would be the dramatic confirmation of its submission to the revolting inertia of the old justice. God forbid !”, he said. /m.m/sm/
