TIRANA, July 6 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday that he finds it really surprising why it is getting difficult in Kosovo to communicate about the Berlin Process summit that will be held in Tirana and the upcoming NATO summit.

In an interview with Klan Kosova, Rama elaborated on the reasons for his Balkan tour in the framework of the Berlin process.

“We will host the Berlin Process summit in Tirana. For the first time this Summit is held in the region and we want to use this unusual opportunity that is given to us to do the best possible for all the countries of the Western Balkans involved in this process by trying in the Tirana summit to materialize an effort started some time ago with the European Commission and a number of European states to enable a new plan of financial and economic support for the countries of the Western Balkans,” said Rama.
And, Rama added, “in my view, it is very important that in the process of gearing up for this summit we build a common position. On one hand, informing all the partners in the region and through these meetings the leaders of the region on what this plan contains to continue with gathering their feedback and coming up with a common position, not in the form of a request, but in the form of a proactive approach, bearing in mind that the Berlin process is led by Germany, and we are all aware of Germany‘s role in the EU, which is in everyone’s interest.”

“And it is startling why this possibility is difficult to be discussed here in Kosovo. While Kosovo, like all other countries, but perhaps more than other countries, needs today more than ever to get out of an impasse, but also to talk in concrete terms about what the future should look like in relation to the EU.”

On the other hand, Rama continued, “there is a NATO summit coming up in the following days. And we are members of NATO together with Montenegro and North Macedonia, and in NATO addressing this sudden topic for NATO countries, but real and relevant, which also comes across as a topic related to security threat, as a result of all those things that are happening in the north of Kosovo is unavoidable.”
