Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated Christians on St Mary’s Day today, while sharing on social media some images from the Zvërnec Monastery on this holiday.

August 15 is the culmination of St Mary’s Day festivities, which is celebrated by Christian believers as the day when Saint Mary joined her son, Jesus Christ.

Just a few kilometers away from Vlora, Zvërnec offers a blend of the history, culture and impressive landscapes, which make it a major tourist attraction.

The Church of Saint Mary, the Mother of God in Zvërnec Monastery, a cultural monument of the first category, welcomes dozens of Albanian and foreign visitors every day.

The monastery can be accessed through a wooden footbridge. The monastery is a typical Byzantine construction built in the 10th century AD.
