TIRANA, June  28 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Tuesday in his remarks at the conference on “Technology and Innovation in Agriculture and Livestock” that the government’s target is to reach one billion dollars of combined exports in agriculture and fisheries during this decade.

“Fisheries today has grown into an industry, it was a sector of misery and sustenance with USD 20-22 million dollars of exports. Today based on last year’s figures, we are come to $ 125 million and our ambition for fisheries is to go to $ 300 million. And it is already  known that our target is to go to one billion dollars of combined exports in agriculture and fisheries during this decade,” said Rama.

According to him, “with one billion worth of exports our country definitely ushers in the era of large-scale entrepreneurial agriculture.”

“But we need to push more for  what this meeting today is all about, technology, innovation. These people who spoke, others who are here but did not take the floor or others who are not here at all are champions of an evolving agriculture precisely because they believe in innovation and technology. They believe in innovation which means catching up on information day to day.”
