TIRANA, Nov 9 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Wednesday that the government will continue to support the citizens in the coming year from the soaring prices of electricity in international markets amid Russia’s war in Ukraine.

During the debate in parliament on the draft budget for 2023, Prime Minister Rama said that the cost to shield citizens from increase in energy prices is expected to reach about ALL 50 billion by the end of this year.

“The 2023 budget is being discussed amid another crisis unfolding, the third in a row, related to the money you received,” Prime Minister Rama addressed the opposition.

Rama said that the government, through this draft budget, will continue to support citizens and business from the shock.

“We are here to offset that blow which is the reason for the war. Vladimir Putin did not start the war to annex pieces from Ukraine, but to bring the West, the Euro-Atlantic community to its knees, to upset the balances of this world, “ he said.

According to PM, the budget subsidizes up to 80 % of energy bill for every Albanian family. /j.p/sm/

TIRANA, Oct 29 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Saturday that, in the energy bill of every family and small business, 20% is paid by consumers and 80% is paid by the state.

In his remarks at the meeting for the presentation of achievements and projects in the Peshkopi municipality, Rama said that, “we are making every effort not to allow the soaring price of energy to affect families and small businesses.”

Rama went on saying that “if this were to happen, it would send the prices of all products skyrocketing.”
Then, Rama added, inflation would be as high as in other countries in the region.

“Today we have the lowest inflation rate in the region just because we have put a financial shield on every family and every small business and we want to keep this financial shield at all costs”, said Rama.
