TIRANA, Nov  14 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Monday in Skopje that “there is no other way to contend with the challenges of this time like no other but through cooperation, creating as many new synergies as possible and adapting to a situation where all of us in the region are too small to stay at the back of each other and we have a lot to do with each other”.

At the joint  Albania-North Macedonia government meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the completely different context in which this meeting takes place, both in terms of the situation in Europe, but also in our region.

“Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine hits, destroys, inflicts wounds and drives people out of their country in that area, but on the other hand it has been provoked precisely to bring the West to its knees, the Euro-Atlantic community, all the countries west of Russia, part of to which are Albania and North Macedonia,” said Rama.

He said that the repercussions of this war for our countries are not bombs and physical destruction, nor expulsion of people from their homes, its repercussions are skyrocketing prices of electricity in the international markets as well as the inflation of the war that has put all countries in difficulty , from the richest to the least rich, such as Albania and North Macedonia.

“We meet at this next meeting of the two governments in another context, in terms of our efforts to join the united European family, having bridged the great and excruciating gap between gearing up for the opening of accession talks and the perpetual rejection by the EU”, said Rama.

He emphasized that today both countries have opened the negotiation process and have taken a very major step forward.

“On December 6, the summit EU- the Western Balkans will be held in Tirana, and we will be there together to share all our wishes, problems and challenges, which are more and more in line with those of other EU countries”, said Rama.
