TIRANA, May 24 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Durrës today, where the National Cleanup Plan is in full swing to clean up the coast before June 1, with the assistance of the army forces.

Accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, and the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, Prime Minister Rama saw first-hand cleanup action in the territory.

Rama assured that “we will respond to the highest number of tourists with cleaner beaches.”

“I believe that this will be the cleanest season ever, because of the extraordinary work that has been done and because of the financial support for coastal municipalities, which face a population boom in the tourist season and an extra load that cannot be handled with the normal tariffs, ” said Rama.
The Prime Minister stressed that “it is crucial that everyone participates in this effort. If the municipality is actively engaged in cleaning the environment, the others should refrain from polluting it.”

“Keeping the home clean is the first element of the ABC of patriotism.”We will continue to be on top of this work through to the end of the whole season, which is likely to see the highest influx of tourists and consumption,” he said.

Minister Kumbaro focused on the great work that has been done during these 6 months.

According to her, changing the mindset of citizens is a challenge in itself because although the spots are cleaned, people come back and pollute the environment.”

“The biggest challenge is the work to change the mindset. This is the battle of this term,” said the minister.

From the start of the action, according to her, 100 thousand tons of waste have been removed from the territory.
