TIRANA, April 23 /ATA/ Albania is represented in the 59th edition of the International Art Biennale in Venice, the largest contemporary art event in the world, with the work of Lumturi Blloshmi.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a view of the Albanian pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

“Albania in the 59th edition of the International Art Biennale in Venice,” said Rama, while sharing images from the Albanian pavilion, featuring the work of the artist Lumturi Blloshmi and curated by Adela Demetja.

In this 59th edition, Albania comes for the first time with a personal exhibition by woman artist who is no longer alive. Artist Blloshmi passed away in 2020 due to COVID-19.
Pavilion

Lumturi Blloshmi’s work over the years and curatorial concept put the Albanian Pavilion within the political, artistic and conceptual framework of the 59th edition of the Venice Biennale and the current discourse of contemporary art.

The presentation entitled “Lumturi Blloshmi. From the Beginning ”is conceived as an exhibition that aims to research, examine, present and reposition the work and life of Lumturi Blloshmi in the history of national and international art.

The presentation is conceived in three parts. The essence of the exhibition consists of a selection of Blloshmi’s works from different periods. The architecture of the exhibition was designed in collaboration with German architect Johanna Meyer-Grohbrügge.

Through a virtually built environment the public accesses Blloshmi’s personal world and creative environment, through a virtual archive, created in close collaboration between curator and British virtual reality artist Alexander Walmsley.

The atmosphere is complemented by a film about Lumturi Blloshmi in the form of an essay documentary. The latter aims to document Blloshmi’s life, work and character. According to curator Demetja, the documentary is in itself a kind of work of art co-created by the thoughts / works / images of Lumturi Blloshmi and Mexican director Tin Dirdamal.
