TIRANA, April 25 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed his conviction that the upcoming tourist season will be the best in all aspects, as work has continued uninterruptedly to clean up the territory.

During the press conference on the cycle of the International Cultural Weeks, Rama also spoke about the role of the local government in development of cultural tourism.

“Tourist seasons have changed significantly, although the change should be much deeper and much more systematic, yet it has changed significantly since we hit the ground running. It is several years now that during the tourist season we offer specific calendars of activities and have specific maps for tourists.
The cooperation with the municipalities has been regulated, and there is definitely a lot to do yet, but generally speaking it takes time to properly build long-standing traditions. I am confident that this season will be the best in all aspects, because we have worked intensively to clean up the territories for almost a year now. We have a new scheme in place for cleaning the territory throughout the coastal area and for sure the difference will be tangible in the eyes of the tourists.

He added that the season will also have its own cultural calendar as well as some novelties related to the opportunities that come with digitalization.

Rama also said that the system of first aid and health care along the entire coastline has been set up and will continue to be in place to cater to tourists, vacationers and citizens.

In parallel, the Prime Minister continued, work has continued unabated to facilitate access to archaeological sites.

“For the first time this tourist season Apolonia will be accessible via a road up to all standards,” Rama said.

Regarding the influx of flights to the “Mother Teresa” airport, the Prime Minister underlined that it is the airport that has seen the highest increase in flights in Europe, due to the drastic reduction of fare prices.
In this quarter the increase in number of accommodated flights is estimated at 23%.
