According to IKMT field inspections, the owner used an application for a single-story legalization permit at the State Cadastre Agency as a cover. They rapidly poured concrete to build three extra floors without approval.

IKMT will hand all case files over to the Prosecutor’s Office and is working with police to investigate the violation.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro shared in the social media images from public beaches in Qeparo, after clearing up of illegally occupied spaces.

“In Qeparo, after the beach was cleared up from illegal occupations, Himara Municipality has just installed parasols that will be available for all holidaymakers,” wrote Kumbaro.

After clearing up the beach from the parasols and sun beds installed illegally by entrepreneurs and individuals, Himara municipality has installed its own parasols there, free of charge.

This space is added to other public and adjusted spaces, enabling low-cost holidays for as many people as possible.

Meanwhile, Himara Municipality reiterated its appeal to holidaymakers, requesting the protection of the public space, not to damage the parasols and to keep the beach clean. /k.s/j.p/p.s./

The village is home to the St. Demetrius Monastery and an interesting attraction for holidaymakers in Albania’s south to visit.

The religious site is described as a gem of the architecture and cultural heritage.

The St. Demetrius Monastery, and the adjacent church bearing the same name, is located on a square in the lower quarter of Qeparo and was built in 1730.

The monastery is built within an ensemble, where the school and church staff building is also located.

The wooden iconostasis, featuring angel images and acanthus leaves of the church, represents a cultural asset of the village.

The new promenade that crosses the entire coastline has given Qeparo the features of a typical Mediterranean tourist village, where the characteristics and traditions of the area are preserved.

Thanks to the financing of the Regional Development Fund, the underground infrastructure has been adjusted as well as the sidewalks and the lighting system of public spaces.
