TIRANA, February 2/ATA/ Puka has become a year-round tourist attraction, due to its natural beauty, history and rich gastronomy.

A favorite destination for foreigners, but also local people, Puka attracts more visitors during the winter time due to the snow and mountainous terrain, but especially due to the fact that recently there has been installed the largest zip-line in the Balkans, with a length of 1,200 meters, a height of 20 meters and a speed that reaches 80–100 km per hour.

Deputy Mayor of Puka Ferid Ringaj said during an interview that last year there were about 17,000 tourists, of which 2,800 were foreign tourists, from Europe, Asia and Arab countries.

“I appreciate 2024 a successful year in terms of the number of visitors. According to tourist operators in the area, there is a significant increase in tourists, thanks to the numerous activities held in Puka which focus on promotion of the agricultural products of the area, cultural activities like the National Festival of Young Instrumentalists, Puka Culture Day, Puka meals, the “Puka Agro-Fest” Fair, etc.,” he emphasized.

In addition to participating in annual activities, the most frequented points of Puka are Lake Koman, Murga Peak, the historical Caves, Mount Munella, which is a protected area due to the lynx living there, other mountainous areas through marked trails. Since Puka is also a crossing point to go to Valbona, there are other touristic parts on the panoramic road to Lake Fierza, etc.

According to the deputy mayor of this municipality, referring to the booking figures as provided by the tourist operators for 2025, there is expected to be an increase of 15-20% in the number of tourists.

According to him, Puka municipality has some projects planned for the current year focusing on infrastructure, construction of new hotels, investments in guesthouses, etc./a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, January 13/ATA/ There has been heavy snowfall in the Northern city of Puka.

Dritan Frroku, a tourism specialist at the municipality of this city, said today during a television interview that beyond the bad weather, snow and frost, every road in Puka is passable.

“There is snow and frost while the temperatures are minus three degrees. During the night, the temperatures fall down into minus six degrees. However, we are used to these low temperatures while the winters are very difficult in Puka. The situation in the villages is normal, as the municipality has done a good job being on the ground. The Civil Emergency Group has opened every road, ensuring that no road is blocked”, he said.

The snowfall has been another incentive for foreign tourists to choose Puka to spend a few days.

“Today, there were many tourists, especially after the heavy snowfall stopped for a while. We also expect to hold the “Puka in celebration” Festival on January 17, 18 and 19. It is expected to be something special, while the weather will also be very good on these days, according to the forecasts. There are many tourist attractions that can be visited in Puka during this period, especially since no road is blocked. Meanwhile, for any unexpected situations, I suggest that drivers have their cars equipped with chains”, said Frroku.

“Përparim Laçi’s Inn, Guesthouse in Konak, guesthouses in Qerret, in small Lajthiza area, Guestroom of Kabashi and many other places where there is hospitality and good food, are just a few suggestions for those who want to choose Puka to spend a weekend or a few days differently”, concluded the tourism specialist at this municipality. /r.e//a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, August 21/ATA/ The northern city of Puka has become a tourist attraction for local and foreign visitors while it is considered a beautiful tourist adventure in every season.

The most visited spots in the territory of Puka municipality are the caves. So far, there have been recorded more than 50 caves.

Some of them are located near the residential areas. Since ancient times, they have been used as shelters or safe places.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media the rare footage from one of them, the Fairies’ cave in Gojan of Puka.

Unique in its kind in Albania, the prime minister wrote that, “Until the 1960s, it also served as a place of pilgrimage”.

The cave of Fairies is a small, but very beautiful and special cave, the only one of its kind in Albania. The spring of water flowing above it covers the cave from all sides down to the stream creating incredible formations and an incredibly panoramic view of the entire surrounding area.

Until the 1960s, this cave also served as a place of pilgrimage and its name cave of Fairies shows this, meaning the place where there are the fairies.

The cave is known by the local inhabitants of this area as a holy place, but it has also curative values. /m.m/a.f/p.s./
