TIRANA, Sept 4 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama as part of his visit in Italy on Saturday held a meeting with the President of the Puglia region, Michele Emiliano.

The agenda of Prime Minister Rama’s visit includes talks on continuation of joint initiatives to take our universities to another level and not only.

“Thank you for the opportunity you gave us to talk to all the rectors about a dialogue that started with the wish to finalize at an appropriate time and take steps that further this perfect relationship from the human and political point of view, implementing joint initiatives to take our universities to a whole new level, drawing on your experience. I am grateful to President Michele with whom I have often talked about this topic. I know that it is not at all plain sailing, with the Italians and the Pugliese and if we add Albanians we would not make it any easier, but your availability is to be highly appreciated, ” Rama said during the meeting.
Yet, he said, we can cooperate beyond this.

“We have to say that the wind is blowing in favor of Italian entrepreneurship and vice versa, so we have to follow their example because it means that these entrepreneurs are faster and we can move faster. It is one of the most important relationships for us, it has a lot of warmth and a lot of potential and we have to make the most of it. “I am sure that starting with something concrete as a university we will make a success of it, ” he stressed.

Regarding health care, PM Rama said that we are in a very constructive process that is well on track.
PM put the emphasis on joint commitment to managing the fire situation in the three countries, Albania, Italy and Greece.

“I believe that we should think of something in common, not only with Italy, but also with Greece. A few days ago I spoke with the Prime Minister of Greece to look into the possibility of adding something else to our countries, the way of coping with the destructive wildfires during summer. Fires, which are impossible to be managed given the capacities and challenges associated with climate changes. Regarding this, we should work something out with European structures. “As far as the map of wildfires is concerned, it is clear that this part of Europe is most at risk, but at the same time this part holds great assets in terms of natural and cultural diversity,” Rama said.

Afterwards, Prime Minister Rama, while speaking about the areas of cooperation at a media briefing, said that the aim was to find out opportunities to have more presence of Italian public universities in our country.

“Thanks to the Mayor and the Governor who put on the table the availability of this region, we talked about a closer cooperation between universities and the opportunity to have more presence of Italian public universities in our country to enable our students to study in high-level university spaces without leaving the home country. We are working on this and will materialize some projects with universities. We are working on other topics, such as the topic of wildfires which concerns us both. Another topic is the exchange of tourists, since Vlora will have an airport any time soon which will make it easier to get to the other coast, without necessarily going to Tirana, but above all it is very important to foster the feeling of brotherhood that I think is the most precious thing we have,” Rama said. /j.p/sm/
