TIRANA, Sept 15 /ATA/ Efforts to free up public spaces are ongoing throughout the country.
Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama posted videos on social media highlighting the work being carried out on-site to clear public areas in the capital.

In his post, Rama shared footage of teams actively involved in the initiative to clear sidewalks, alleys, and illegally occupied areas, underscoring the continuous and committed efforts to restore public spaces to the community.

“Moving forward,” the Prime Minister wrote in his post, underlining that this process is a central part of the “Urban Renaissance 2.0” vision.
The initiative has been broadly implemented countrywide to reclaim public spaces for community use, offering the city increased open areas for pedestrians, children, and social gatherings.

This program includes plans to expand green areas, improve squares and sidewalks, and redesign pedestrian zones, thereby creating more space for the community and promoting tourism development.

The program builds on the initial phase of the “Urban Renaissance,” which over time transformed the country’s key urban centers, and now seeks to implement more advanced interventions to align public spaces with European standards.

Prime Minister Rama has indicated that a National Regulation is currently in progress to designate the areas businesses can utilize. He stated that “for each chair placed in these restricted spaces, the business will be required to contribute by planting a tree in the Green Fund, which will be launched by the new government.”

Prime Minister Rama also announced that criminal and administrative penalties for violations of public spaces will be tightened.

The portal **“Hapësiraimepublike.gov.al”** is part of the government’s broader vision and serves as a tool to assist citizens in reporting cases of public space violations that go against the law. Within just one month of its launch, 10,759 cases have been reported — 7,383 of which have been resolved, while the remaining 3,376 are currently under review.
