TIRANA, Oct 9 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that the Ministry of Public Administration will be established next week, with the aim of broadening its scope of responsibilities and strengthening the administration’s role in Albania’s European integration process.

Speaking at the presentation of the “Merit Scale”, Rama stressed that public administration is a central issue for both the government’s work and the process of building a European state.

Rama said the new Ministry of Public Administration would broaden responsibilities and strengthen efforts to develop the administration as part of Albania’s European integration process.

“Through the Ministry of Public Administration, a model adopted by many other European countries, we need to broaden the scope of our duties and work, as well as our ambitions to further develop Albania as a European state,” the prime minister said.

Rama also highlighted the importance of merit in public administration, stressing that it motivates employees, strengthens their sense of belonging to institutions and encourages cooperation towards achieving shared goals.

“Merit is the core principle we must all work towards continuously and remain focused on, as it underpins motivation and a sense of belonging not merely to a workplace, but to an organisation, institution or department,” Rama said.

The prime minister announced that the Ministry of Public Administration would be headed by Minister of State for Public Administration Adea Pirdeni, whom he praised for her dedication and professionalism.

Rama expressed confidence that the team’s work and commitment to date would help turn the new ministry into a model institution, aligned with the goal of building a public administration based on merit and professionalism.
