Through a live communication on social media in the “Sy m’sy” segment, Rama responded to a commenter saying that the ban on TikTok in Albania is nothing less than censorship.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “this is not censorship, but protection.”

“It’s not madness, but rather the best course of action. We are not permanently shutting it down, but we are gradually restricting it day by day, while working with TikTok to receive a plan outlining the measures they will take to ensure the safety of children,” said Rama.

According to him, the plan of measures requested from TikTok aims to curb bullying and incorporate the Albanian language as well as to encourage new programs in areas like science, mathematics, and more, using algorithms.

“Don’t listen to the ‘owl.’ The owl has its own agenda, let him spin it the way he wants, history has placed him on a pedestal with reeds: a swamp owl. Don’t listen to the ‘owl,’ don’t follow the owl because it will devour you, but contribute to draining the swamp,” added Rama.
