“The project idea of the Manchester City Academy in Durrës,” Rama said.

The Academy of the “Manchester City” Club and its football school for children will have their campus for the region in Durrës. At the end of April, Prime Minister Edi Rama was in the UK, where the agreement with the champion club of Europe and England was signed. For the Albanian side, the agreement was signed by the Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi and the mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako.

The “Manchester City” Academy in Durres and the Football School aim to turn Durres into a talent destination on a national and regional scale. “We have received the exclusivity to be a hub for the entire region, for the countries of the Balkans and beyond,” Rama said after signing of the agreement. “And if a second academy is to be built in the Balkans, the municipality of Durrës will be a partner. This opens up a whole new perspective. The parallel step is for us to set up our Durrës City group. It will be a nucleus that will develop in the future and as a separate team.”
