TIRANA, June 13 /ATA/ General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, held a meeting with Toshitsuki Kaëauchi, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Albania.

During the meeting, both parties appreciated the ongoing cooperation between the State Police and UNHCR in addressing issues related to migration, border protection, and assistance to migrants, asylum seekers, and individuals in need of international protection in our country.

General Director Ilir Proda emphasized that this partnership has significantly contributed to enhancing the capabilities of police officers in identifying and professionally handling cases involving asylum seekers and vulnerable groups. This progress has been achieved through joint training sessions and awareness-raising activities aimed at improving adherence to international human rights standards.
Furthermore, a comprehensive communication and coordination framework has been established between the State Police entities and the relevant institutions responsible for migration management, thereby enhancing both institutional and inter-institutional capacities to respond effectively to this phenomenon.

The parties also discussed further steps to deepen cooperation, recognizing that migration remains a complex and dynamic challenge requiring continuous attention and commitment.
In closing, General Director Proda reaffirmed the State Police’s commitment to act in full compliance with national laws and the obligations arising from international conventions, with the aim of ensuring the rights and dignified treatment of every individual, without distinction.
