After a reception extended by the mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, at the White House building, the mayors stopped in the yard of the Albanian League of Prizren, where the commemoration ceremony took place.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, in his address delivered on this important day, which marks one of the greatest historical events of the entire Albanian nation, stated that the Modern League of Prizren is about open borders and increase of cooperation between each other.

“Gratitude to the Municipality of Prizren, the Union of Albanian Municipalities in the Region and the Association of Kosovo Municipalities for this dignified organization, as befits this great event! It is a special pleasure to be together in the historic Prizren, in this historic house and I strongly believe that this meeting today has its own historical dimension.

“I want to call it the ‘Modern League of Prizren,’ said Veliaj, describing it as “a new league, which brings us together, like our ancestors from all Albanian territories once did.”

Veliaj said that, “as Albanian-speaking cities, we have already pledged our faith in the spirit of the Union of Albanian Municipalities and Communes in the Region, which must be maintained and that is why we are here in Prizren today to carry this cooperation forward! And who is Albanian knows well what faith is all about.

“This” Modern League of Prizren” is a followup,” the mayor of Tirana said.
“Let us enjoy this day and thank you all for the hospitality, love and brotherhood,” said Veliaj.
