In his speech, Veliaj expressed his excitement for receiving the title of “Honorary Citizen” and said that only united we can move forward, promising to contribute more to the city of Prizren.

“Today, as the newest citizen of Prizren, in addition to catering for the city of Tirana, I feel an obligation to dedicate a part of my time, of my energies to promoting Prizren. It is such a great news that today Prizren, the historic city, the multi-religious, multi-ethnic city, has developed into a center of gravity. As long as it promotes values, promotes kindness, love, culture, art, I believe that the best days in our city of Prizren are ahead of us. Today I am honored that with me are Blerina and Etjeni, members of the Parliament of Albania, to testify that we are together. We may have different jobs, we may have different vocations, we may have different parties, but for some purposes we work together. “Our differences are not so big as to divide us and we must work for common goals,” said Veliaj.

The mayor of the municipality of Prizren praised Veliaj as a man with positive energy, who needs to be held up as a role model for the way he has transformed Tirana.
