Privately-held HPPs account for 50.3% of Albania’s net electricity production in Q1,2024

TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ – The power output generated by the privately-held power plants, plants operated under concession and photovoltaic parks exceeded the amount of electricity produced by the public hydropower plants in the first quarter of 2024, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT.

INSTAT data showed that Albania’s public hydropower stations generated a total of 1162 GWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2024, down by 28.1% from 1614 GWh of electricity produced during the same period of the previous year.

The privately-held power plants and plants operated under concession in Albania produced 1246 GWh of electricity up from 1156 GWh during the same period of 2023, marking an increase by 7.8 %.

The electricity generated by the photovoltaic parks is estimated at 70,140 MWh, significantly up from 16,515 MWh during same period of 2023.

According to INSTAT, the combined net electricity production during the reviewed period amounted to 2.478 GWh, down from 2.787 GWh produced in the first quarter of 2023, with the public HPPs accounting for 46.9%, the privately-held HPPs accounting for 50.3 % and the photovoltaic parks representing 2.8% of the net energy production.

TIRANA, May 25 /ATA/ – Albania’s public hydropower stations generated a total of 1162 GWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2024, down by 28.1% from 1614 GWh of electricity produced during the same period of the previous year.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) report on electricity production released earlier this week, the privately-held power plants and plants operated under concession in Albania produced 1246 GWh of electricity up from 1156 GWh during the same period of 2023, marking an increase by 7.8 %.

INSTAT data show that the gross electricity import in the first quarter of 2024 was estimated 535 GWh from 246 GWh during the same period of the previous year.

Albania’s electricity export fell by 10% to 814 GWh from 904 GWh in the same period of 2023.

TIRANA, Sept 6 /ATA/ – The electricity production from the privately-held power plants and plants operated under concession in Albania rose 5.4 % year-on-year in the second quarter of 2023, data from the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, showed on Wednesday.

According to INSTAT, the privately-held power plants and plants operated under concession generated 1.057 GWh in second quarter of 2023 from 1.002 GWh of electricity generated during the same period of the previous year.

INSTAT data also show that electricity production from the photovoltaic parks has doubled to 26.161 MWh in the first seven months of 2023 from 13.629 MWh during the same period of the last year.

According to INSTAT, the combined net electricity production during the reviewed period rose 37.8 % year-on-year to 2.269 GWh from 1.647 GWh during the same period of 2022.

The public hydropower stations accounted for 52.3 % of the total electricity production, whereas the privately-held power plants generated around 46.5 % of the total, whereas the photovoltaic parks account for 1.2% of the total net electricity production in Albania during the second quarter of 2023.
