TIRANA, March 29 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama assured today that “the government will continue to support every family in order for the shock of this crisis not to hit them.

During the delivery of 206 new apartments to beneficiary households in Kavaja, Rama focused on the crisis triggered by the war in Ukraine.

“Today we are hit by another crisis, as if the impact of earthquake and the pandemic were not enough for us. We have to grapple with electricity crunch compounded by a war that is taking place in Europe that one one expected to see it in Europe, which 2022 has become like a scene in the 1930s,” he said.

According to Rama, “even after this crisis, we will be stronger, we will be better off, but we will have to face them all together.”
Rama stressed that the two countries that are at war due to Russian aggression are the main sources of Europe and beyond for many raw materials.

“They are Europe’s main suppliers of energy, oil and gas, agricultural inputs and so on,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that “breaking that chain brings many disruptions.”

“However, even today I am telling you that although the difficulties increase every day for us to keep things going, we will continue to subsidize from the state budget the difference of the energy bill for each family. And this is very important and everyone should be aware of this, to understand that if they pay for energy today the same way they paid for it before the crunch, it does not mean that energy costs the same. “No, it costs three, four, five times as high a month, and the rest is paid by the government, so that at least on this side, pensioners are not hit, pensioners do not have cars, people with special needs do not have four wheel drive vehicles,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister added that the crisis spills over into Albania, which is in Europe, just as it spills over into Australia, which is far away.

“This is a crisis that we have not invented ourselves, nor have we chosen to have it, as is the war that we have neither started, nor can we stop. We will face it as we managed the earthquake impact. Here we are today. All this suffering, all this waiting, all this stress you went through, is over today and today you have a home you had never imagined if you continued to stay in those old homes,” he said.
