TIRANA, Jan 23 /ATA/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, reacted today to the government’s decision to reduce the price of electricity to 8.5 lek/kWh, while reminding that in 2013 the price was 7.4 lek/kWh.

“Based on the data, the price of electricity in Albania has seen insignificant change, while 22 other countries have reduced their energy prices,” Tabaku said in a social media post.

According to her, “In 2013, the price was 7.4 lek/kWh, while today it is 8.5 lek/kWh.”

“How can the government call this a reduction? Albanians are paying more and more for an unfair system that doesn’t help the citizens,” she added.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to comments on social media regarding the reduction of electricity prices.

Rama stated that with this decision, Albania’s electricity price will be reduced to 8.5 lek/kWh, while Greece is almost three times higher at 22 lek/kWh, Italy at 33 lek/kWh, Germany at 40 lek/kWh, and Hungary, the lowest, is still about 20% higher than Albania.
