TIRANA, Jan 10 /ATA/ The government is shielding more than 1 million household subscribers, 172 thousand small businesses and 7500 businesses connected to the medium voltage from the skyrocketing electricity prices in international markets up to 1044 euros per megawatt/hour.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, announced that despite the energy crisis, support will be offered to all family subscribers and small businesses.

She also mentioned the work carried out to upgrade the transmission lines and improve the collection of liabilities.

“We reduced the network losses by 1%. The level of losses in the distribution network dropped from 20.66% in 2021 to 19.7% in 2022. In 2023, we have set yet more ambitious targets,” she emphasized in a post on social media.

To help citizens cope with the energy crisis, the government is also implementing a 70% subsidy scheme for the installation of solar panels for water heating.

So far, 1040 solar panels have been installed, while the government says that about 20 thousand of them will be installed with a fund of EUR 8 million within 2023.
