Krasniqi said that the “Pretoria Declaration” adopted at the end of the conference carries concrete commitments for implementation of the UNESCO Guidelines and the strengthening of digital platforms worldwide.

According to Krasniqi, the document provides for measures to increase the transparency of platforms, including periodic reporting on content moderation, effective complaint mechanisms for users, as well as expanding researchers’ access to platform data for research purposes in the public interest.

Krasniqi underlined that a special place in the Action Plan is occupied by the protection of users, especially children and vulnerable groups, the promotion of Media and Information Education, as well as the development of standards for assessing systemic risks related to electoral integrity, media freedom and information integrity.

“This is a joint commitment to collaborating globally to create secure and aligned digital policies”, Krasniqi concluded.
