After the exhaustion of the third round in parliament for election of the President, which went off without a vote because the opposition did not nominate any candidates, Alibeaj blamed the majority for the failure of the process.

He said that Rama backed down from the pact.

“When we laid down the rules that were agreed upon, Rama did what he always knows best, withdrawing. Due to infamous changes in 2008 the President is elected with 71 votes. We missed an opportunity to give Albania an institution that would have the legitimacy of the parties, so whenever challenges arose, he would seriously rise to the occasion,” said Alibeaj.

Alibeaj said that it is not needed a one-sided president, but in order to elect a president over the parties, the parties had to be together during this process.
