In a post on his official account on the X platform and Facebook, President Begaj praised this resolution as support for the reform process that Albania has undertaken as part of the efforts for full membership in the European Union.

“The confirmation and support of the European Parliament give Albania renewed energy through the latest resolution for the reform process towards membership in the European Union. Gratitude must be expressed through work and parliamentary cooperation in all directions and for every aspect of the resolution,” President Begaj stated.

After a debate held the previous day and following approval on June 4, 2025, by the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET), the European Parliament today adopted in a plenary session in Strasbourg—with 502 votes out of 686 members present—the report on Albania’s progress for the years 2023 and 2024, prepared by Austrian MEP Andreas Schieder.
